Private label, custom brand, or human body cast: choosing a product path

The product route determines more than the look. It changes the sample plan, ownership discussion, quantity range, lead-time variables, and the information required to move forward.

Private label: test the brand layer first

Private label is a practical route when the priority is to validate a product category, a colour story, packaging, and the audience response without beginning with new tooling. The discussion should focus on the available base, brand application, pack format, sample, and quantity conditions.

It is best for a creator who needs to learn which presentation, price position, or product family resonates before investing in a fully original form.

Custom brand: build a recognisable product direction

A custom brand route is appropriate when shape, texture, finish, components, or presentation must be recognisably different. A sketch or reference is a starting point; it is not a final production specification.

Before committing, align on what will be exclusive, what rights and files are covered by the written scope, how revisions are approved, and which volume assumptions support the selected route.

Human body cast: privacy and consent are part of the production plan

A body-cast project has a different trust threshold. It should be approached with explicit consent, a privacy-first workflow, clear handling of sensitive materials, controlled access, and written clarity around the mold and related files.

It is not simply a more expensive version of a standard product. The conversation must define the onboarding process, documentation, sample or approval stage, ownership boundaries, and disposal or retention conditions before sensitive material is exchanged.
